Do actors for feature films really memorize all of their scripts lines? How does this work?

They certainly memorize their lines for that day's shooting, sure.

Simply learn the lines and rehearse too.Do actors for feature films really memorize all of their scripts lines? How does this work?
they memorize the lines for that days work. that is why stage work is harder than movies because with stage actors they have to memorize all their lines.Do actors for feature films really memorize all of their scripts lines? How does this work?
Its a skill that can be developed and yes actors/actresses do really memorize lines. The ones that I admire though are the ones that are stage actors because they have to memorize and don't have four or five takes to get it right either. Remember if the actor gets the line wrong in a take, they cut and redo the shot. That makes it a lot easier to seem like you remember all the lines.
They memorize a few lines per shot. Every new camera angle change is a new shot. That's why it takes like 8 days to film 40 minutes (for a 1 hour show) and several weeks for a movie.

More lines have to be remembered at a time for a varity show such as the Carol Burnett show. SNL uses lots more actors which helps cult down on how many lines they have to memorize.
