WI-FI question. How does this work?

Can they track the sites you visit at the WIFI hotspot? Or is it safe to do online banking and e-bay ext. For example if im in MacDonald's using WIFI and I go to the e-bay site are the MacDonald's people able to see that I im on E-bay? or if I download a program do they know about it ext???WI-FI question. How does this work?
breaking encyption is about a 5 min process. I would never bank online at mcdonalds. WI-FI question. How does this work?
yup they can for this purpose we use firewall and i use ISA and u can also use any packet sniffer to check the packet. it is so easy.
It is possible for network administrators (and other network users) to sniff packets on the network, therefore getting your personal information. HOWEVER, as long as the information is ENCRYPTED, this won't do them any good. To make sure your data is encrypted on a sensitive site, look at the URL, for 'https://%26lt;site%26gt;' rather than just 'http'

If you want to mask your identity online you can use a proxy service like prixy.org
Most good firewalls will show what your clients are connected too. The firewall has to monitor the incoming and outgoing traffic to know whether to allow or deny it. That being said all they would see is that you are on the 'banking' site, they would not see any info unless they are specifically capturing data packets and analyzing them.

So yes it is possible, but i would not recommend it. Better to be safe than sorry.
