I have a 1997 Ford Taurus, and discovered an electrical plug in a case in the grill work; what is this?

It is a standard 110 volt plug inside a round housing facing the grill, towards the bottom f the grill assembly. The car is not a diesel. Any idea what it is?I have a 1997 Ford Taurus, and discovered an electrical plug in a case in the grill work; what is this?
sounds like it has a block heater in it. if thats what it is, its used in cold climates and you plug it in to an outlet and it makes it easier to start your car on freezing mornings.I have a 1997 Ford Taurus, and discovered an electrical plug in a case in the grill work; what is this?

yup...block heater
This car must have been in the north. It is an engine block heater which you can plug in in hte winter to keep the car's insides from freezing up. They used to be fairly common in places like Minnesota and the Dakotas for under 0 degree temps.
yep block heater but if ya wanna be sure follow the wire
IT IS 100% A BLOCK HEATER, IF IT GETS V/COOL WHERE YOU LIVE YOU CAN PLUG IT IN AND WHEN YOU START YOUR CAR IT WILL BE WARM!
