I recently responded to an ad for a home typist position, and although I can see how it would work-- is this even a legal way to make money? It said to place an ad for a home typist job (like the one I responded to) on any help wanted page. Then when people respond you tell them that if they are interested they need to send $20 to your paypal account and then you will send them the information on how to get started. Then once you recieve the payment you send them the information about how they should place an ad for a home typist job and get people to send them $20 for the information on how to get started. It's a pretty good idea if it's legal. Is it legal? Is this a legal work at home idea?
You have fallen for the oldest trick in the book. Welcome to America!! By the way, scams are illegal. Is this a legal work at home idea?
You fell for a scam and they want you to make money by scamming others.
It's illegal. They've not actually told you how to secure typing jobs, just how to place ads and take people's money under false pretences.
Call the cops and report them.
As a lot of people have pointed out, it is legal according to federal lottery and postal regulations, and probably even in most states, however, what no one has brought up is how much it will cost you to place the ad. According to what you wrote, you are to place the ad but you don't specify where, so I am assuming you are to place it on a website that he recommends and that could cost you anywhere from $50.00 to as much as $340.00 depending on their circulation and current advertising rates. You would really have to pull in a lot of suckers to recover your costs. So it may not be illegal, but it is most definitely a scam, so don't spend any more of your time or hard earned money on this guy.
Unfortunately, this sounds like a typical scam--more specifically, it's a pyramid scheme.
It may be legal but it is not ethical.
it's a pyramid scam, they're usually not legal. This is textbook from the cult of the dead cow, an 80's cyber punk scam network, can't be traced, accounts are all fake.
the great thing about a scam is that it appears to be professional.
Scam,Scam,Scam got to Work at home moms. They have listings for real work at home jobs. Also lists scams.
not sure sound sneaky to me like the one send me $5.00 and I'll give a beautiful engrave portrait of Abraham Lincoln, them you mail them a penny.....rip off to me
Nothing claiming legally based on ';Title 18, Section 1302'; is ever legitimate.
That piece of fake legalese is a major clue that what they are offering will make you commit crimes in order to make money. Usually felonies.
technically yes it is legal, however some states have different laws for stuff like that. Also different websites have rules against spam, which the advertisments could be seen as.
You will just loose $20. They sell you infromation and that is legal. They do not have to make that infromation work for you. It will sound good but you need people to pay you for what you do.
If you want to type at home, you need to get a business licence and then make your own presentation to convince people to pay you for your typing.
I know may at home medical transcriptionists who make good money with that most of them also have a background in bookkeeping to fall back on when times get lean.
Taking a study at home of community college cource on both would be a good start.
Yeah, that doesn't sound very legal. You are stealing people's money, that makes you a thief. It sounds like one of those pyramid schemes. I would stay away from any of those ';work from home'; things, they're usually a scam.
