If a person has a job in this country is working on a green card, would it cause problems if he changes jobs?

South African in this country since teens years, now working full time. Wants to change jobs, but is being told that it could endanger his green card/citizen ship status. If a person has a job in this country is working on a green card, would it cause problems if he changes jobs?
No. The green card does not apply to one specific job. As long as he is in the country legally and this is documented (any legitimate employee will insure all the legal paperwork is in order) he's free to do as he wishes. I know this for a fact because my wife is in the process of becoming a citizen. She is working right now and has her green card.If a person has a job in this country is working on a green card, would it cause problems if he changes jobs?
Not true because you are in the US legally : )
No, a green card means that they are permanent residents. Which means that they hold all rights citizens do except for the right to vote. They can join the military, go to school, buy a house. They are here legally and are paying taxes.
Is it a green card you have? Having a green card is almost the same as being a citizen, about the only thing you can't do is vote.
I think that you will jeapordize your green card status if you change jobs.
If you have a green card, then you should be able to change jobs, with no problem. A green card gives you the right to live here in the US and work, it doesn't say for which company though.

If you are still in doubt though, call an immigration lawyer and ask.
do not change jobs until you get your greencard. Make sure your lawyer is following up on your paperwork. If you change jobs you have to get your new employer to redo all the paperwork you have already done.
If the person has been LAPR'd, then he can change jobs wherever he wants. (Lawfully Admitted for Permanent Residence)
