PS2 Games on a PS3 can I upgrade a 40gb to make this work?

Can I upgrade the hard drive on a 40gb PS3 to a 60 or and 80, and will this let me play PS2 games on it?

Thanks in advancePS2 Games on a PS3 can I upgrade a 40gb to make this work?
no, there is no way to make any PS3 other than the very original model play ps2 games.

It is a POSSIBILITY (read - unlikely to happen) that sony can release a firmware update to allow the 40 and 80gb machines to play ps2 games, but nothing we can do.

just buy a cheap ps2 if you need itPS2 Games on a PS3 can I upgrade a 40gb to make this work?
There is no upgrade to make a PS3 backwards compatible with PS2 if it didn't come that way. The only PS3s with PS2 backwards compatibility are the original 20GB and 60GB models and the 80GB model that was bundled with MGS4.

However there were rumors floating around that Sony would someday release a PS2 emulator for download on the PS3 but this has never been confirmed.
No what you need is a chip inside of the ps3 my advice go to eb games or something and buy a PS2 then tape it to your Ps3 and now you have a PS5
Ps3 is annoying amigo,i always bought ps until i discovered xbox360,i wouldn't go back to ps.
The hard drive will only change the storage size .. thats all
