Soldiers say they're doing good works, does this give hope for the future of Iraq?

Soldiers interviewed said, 1) they were there doing good works rebuilding a nation. 2) some felt that they shouldn't be there(Iraq/Afghanistan) yet they are doing good works trying to build up the Iraqi people and should stay to get it done.

Does their view that we are doing good works and rebuilding a nation a people give you hope for the future?

Again, commies/socialists no need to answer since I already heard your spiel for the last 5 years. Constructive and intellectually sound arguments/comments are appreciated! There is no mention of the prez or republicants in the question, address the issue!!! Thank you.

This area has come leaps and bounds in security over the last six months,'; says Captain Graebner, of Fairfax, Va. ';We've got the IA [Iraqi Army] down here, we're reestablishing the IP [Iraqi police], and we've put in $1.5 million in projects like water and school refurbishing since October.Soldiers say they're doing good works, does this give hope for the future of Iraq?
I won't say anything about the troops with their boots on the ground. They are doing a job and don't have many choices. Its not like they can say “I have had enough, I quit and I’m going home.”

We have heard those that say they move into an area, clean it up and within an hour or so after leaving it is back to where it was prior to the troops entering the area. There are those that say it is all about our presence it is obvious that is not true. Iraqi’s are killing Iraqi’s - Muslims killing Muslims. You have a few Americans as casualties... but the count is not nearly as high. I don’t believe that if we leave it will get worse... I also don’t believe it will get better.

Take the Lebanon situation... not enough that Middle Easterners are killing each other in Iraq... They [the Lebanese] need their own bloodbath too! Funny thing is, people all over the globe always have something to say about Americans and their guns. Fact is, we don’t have massive wars amongst each other here. Its not blacks warring against whites or Jews against Catholics [or atheists for that matter] where cities are in ruins and massive graves are being dug for the dead.

Middle Easterners seem to want to continue hundreds of years of bull S@#! and I say pull out all troops... not just the U.S. troops and let them at each other. I think Darfur could use the help anyway.

Not angry at all... I just say what I mean and mean what I say. Report Abuse

These guys are in the middle of it and they know. We see and hear only what the media wants us to. I think it depends on who you are talking with, as to what story you get. Some of the soldiers I've talked with say things are building and progressing, others say we are doing absolutely nothing but getting our troops killed. I saw ray of light in a web news article a little while ago, saying that the Iraqi folks want U.S. troops help in fighting Al-Queda. This is a good sign, in my book.
I helped build roads in Vietnam. The NVA loved us for it and left us alone. They knew they would need the roads in the future and Americans could do a really nice job so, why stop them and they did not have to pay for it. Al Qaida is not stupid. Everything the US does will belong to them at some time.
